Joy is a feeling we have all likely experienced. Considered ephemeral and mysterious, it is placed at the centre of my practice.
I create sculptural and functional ceramics inspired by nature, using a combination of hand building and hand-thrown techniques before hand-painting intricate and vibrant patterns. These works aim to provide an uplifting experience for the viewer. Highly decorative, each piece embodies abstract shapes and patterns to create an aesthetic of abundance and energy. My practice explores how we can cultivate positive emotion through art by deliberately engineering colour and form to create joyful aesthetics.
