I work across a wide range of media, including oil, acrylic, gouache, and watercolour, often combining these materials within mixed-media compositions. Decoupage is a prominent feature of my current practice and is used to define key areas within each painting.
My backgrounds are built from fluid brushstrokes and abstract marks that establish the mood and theme of the work, setting the scene for more detailed foreground elements.
My inspiration comes from the changing seasons in nature. Walking in the countryside is a vital part of my creative process; observing colour, atmosphere, scent, and weather strongly influences the outcome of each finished piece. Impressionist art, poetry , and the practice of plein air painting have all shaped my approach to my work.
I am compelled to create paintings that reflect what I encounter during my walks, often striving to capture fleeting moments in time – unique experiences that cannot be repeated, but can be preserved through paint.
