I’m a craftsman, wood turner & up-cycler with an appreciation of beauty, especially wood & the characteristic natural organic grain patterns & colours of the individual trees.
In my bespoke furniture designs & wood turning I try to utilise these natural grain characteristics by sympathetically shaping to create simple flowing forms.
Colour forms an integral part of my work and by burning, applying stains, resins, paints & liming pastes I add greater contrast, depth & texture to my work & these techniques emphasise & highlight the natural grain patterns, timber defects, colours & textures of the wood.
Fitness for purpose, form & function are also important elements of my work especially when working with discarded & redundant items; I relish the challenges presented by working with unwanted materials using them to create new functional pieces with character & charm.
