77c Molly Acacia Hughes at Brook Arts Hub

Artform: Drawing, Illustration, Painting, Printmaking, Textiles
Molly Acacia and Ellie Carr-Smith co-founded Studio MEAD in 2025 with big ideas on how to transform a former ceramics studio into a textiles, tufting and screen printing hub for education/recreational use. The pair will both be exhibiting their artworks at Brook Arts Hub, and will also be offering demonstrations in their upstairs studio during the last week of WOS, welcoming people to see the possibilities in these art forms.
The pair have been working on a large, tapestry style commission depicting the River Avon. Combining screen-print and rug tufting, and working with local art groups to deliver workshops and harvest ideas surrounding the narrative the river weaves around peoples lives. Working in collaboration with a theatre group (Stans Cafe, Selly Oak) this unique pairing of textile applications works alongside a solo performance to tell the story of the Avon.
Both artists are available for commissions, hoping to connect through innovation and sustainable/responsible design.
