In my head I’m a painter but over the past fifteen years I’ve been increasingly seduced by fabric and stitch and more recently, weaving. All art for me is an exploration of colour and texture and I have come to the conclusion that textile art allows for the greatest flexibility and produces the happiest results. I have no formal training or art education, it’s just been a case of trial and error, but I’m drawn to textiles as a link to all the women throughout history who darned, knitted and stitched to keep their homes comfortable and their families warm. By incorporating worn and pre-loved fabrics and yarn, vintage as well as the simply old and discarded, I hope my art pays tribute to the long and noble tradition of domestic textiles. Each piece is an act of love.
