Biography
I’m Craftsman, Wood Turner & Up-cycler with an appreciation of beauty, especially for wood, it’s natural grain patterns, textures & colours.
In my bespoke work I try to utilise the natural characteristics of wood by sympathetically shaping to create simple organic flowing forms.
Colour forms an integral part of my work and I use various techniques such as burning, applying colour in the form of stains, paints, liming pastes & resins the application of these adds greater contrast, depth & texture to my work, which emphasises & highlights the natural grain patterns.
Fitness for purpose, form & function are also important elements of my work, especially when working with broken, redundant and discarded items, I relish the mental the challenges presented by working with unwanted materials using them to create new functional pieces with character & charm.
