Amanda Edney

Site Number: 61
Region:
Rugby
Artform:
Collage, Mixed media, Textiles

Amanda is hugely inspired by the Japanese concepts of Mottainai (waste not, want not) and wabi sabi (the beauty of the imperfect) and this year her focus is on the use of upcycled materials, including denim, and botanical dyes with the addition of visible darning to create unusual and unique cloth, influenced by Japanese boroboro.

Come and see the artist at work and a selection of her weavings and creative textile pieces. There will also be a loom or two available for you to have a go at weaving yourself.

One of only five registered SAORI instructors in the UK, Amanda offers workshops in the wonderful and joyful art of SAORI. SAORI is a form of art weaving originating in Japan, which emphasises creativity and self-expression. Complete beginners of all ages can create beautiful, unique cloth after minimal instruction. Workshops are regularly held in Napton and can be booked in advance by contacting amanda@beautifulcloth.co.uk. www.beautifulcloth.co.uk
