Biography:
Ellie is a multidisciplinary artist who works intuitively with varying mediums from mixed media painting and drawing, community projects and murals to her current discipline of land art photography. Through her creativity (and teaching) Ellie seeks to empower others to find their own unique artistic voice and together find and celebrate beauty.
Ellies inspiration for her artwork is the journey of life...the interior landscape of the soul and the natural world, and how the inner and outer world reflect and interact with each other. Through walking and taking time in nature to discover hidden and often unseen beauty. Reading the book of nature.
Ellie started exhibiting in 2010 with her first solo Painting and Drawing exhibition with Warwickshire Open Studios and continued through the years participating in group exhibitions. More recently in 2021/22 facilitating others to exhibit with her in WOS. 2016 saw Ellie take up an artist residency exhibiting in and around Isola del Gran Sasso d’Italia. Going on to work with communities to leave permanent mural artworks in Kosovo, India, Enderby, Leicester and most recently Coventry.
Ellies current art form is Land Art Photography using a Smartphone. A Samsung phone camera is the vehicle to capture Land Art that is either made or found. Natural materials of the earth are gathered, be it dried leaves, grasses or germinating seeds, these are woven together to create land art. Alternatively, simply finding beauty already portrayed in nature this is then, through different compositional tools, photographed and then edited in Instagram before sharing with a community of other land artists as stills or videos and printed for exhibiting.
