I also exhibit every year with the Potters Jolley at Blockley, a vibrant group of local potters showing their work at Blockley village Hall every October (DATES THIS YEAR OCT 17 / 18)
Robin is a ceramic artist. Her work is inspired by the Britain’s wilder landscapes. She uses clay in a playful fashion to create ceramic forms and vessels for gardens and interiors. Her use of torn and textured clay gives her hand-built forms and panels a rugged finish which are then painted in a pallet of soft colours reflecting the light quality of this country.
Her workshop, situated overlooking her tiny garden, creates wonderful opportunities to make work that integrates with the plants in her garden. Sculptural vessels rise above the planting in the garden and provide structure in the winter when the plants die back.
‘During lockdown I have focused on creating work for my garden which has helped to maintain my sanity and given me endless hours of pleasure. I have a collection of tiny succulent plants, which get rather lost in my rather rampant & overgrown garden. I have created ceramic containers based on the rocky formations of rockpools in which to create miniature succulent plant gardens that are raised above the undergrowth so they can be seen in all their glory’Over the past few years Robin has made several visits to Orkney & North West Scottish coast & the Orkney Isles. This has inspired a series of works exploring the combination of fabric and ceramic collage to evoke the extraordinary light quality of the northernmost sea-shores. These would have been shown as part of Warwickshire open Studios 2020 but she will be exhibiting them over the coming months in the Courtyard Gallery, The Gallery at the Guild, when it opens, and on-line.
