Craig Munro is a visual artist based in Leamington Spa, UK. He is interested in the relationship between form, colour, balance and the physical qualities of paint and mark-making.
Working intuitively, Munro’s practice is centered around the connectivity of all things in nature. Circles play a central motif in his work. For him circles hold something essential: they’re both finite and infinite, marking beginnings and endings while simultaneously suggesting eternity. From the shape of the Earth, the Sun, a flower and a cell we are all connected to this world we live in.
Colour becomes a carrier of energy in his pieces, where he gravitates towards the use of bright, vivid hues that vibrate, fill a space and create a feeling in the viewer. Through his art, he explores the territories where the conscious and unconscious mind meet.
Munro currently has his art studio at The Stoneleigh Arms, Leamington Spa. This is a new community arts space dedicated to making the arts more accessible.
