25 San Stae presents Gaea Nayo

San Stae presents Gaea Nayo image

Region: Leamington Spa

Artform: Ceramics, Sculpture

The current exhibition features a curated selection of new works by Gaea Nayo, including sculptural vessels alongside smaller functional pieces. Midlands-based & working primarily with heavily grogged stoneware clay, Gaea’s practice is inspired by natural forms – particularly stones shaped by elemental forces – and the legacy of modernist sculpture. Her vessels balance weight, softness & quiet monumentality at the intersection of sculpture & function.

On Sunday, Gaea will lead 2 workshops dedicated to Kurinuki – the traditional Japanese technique of sculpting ceramic tea bowls by carving them from a single, solid block of clay. This sculptural approach yields deeply personal, tactile pieces that celebrate raw texture and form.

– Sunday Workshop Session 1: 2pm-3.30pm / Session 2: 4.30pm-6pm
– Tickets: £45 (includes use of tools, grogged stoneware clay, studio firing, glass of fizz). Please email studio@sanstae.com to book your place.
