St Laurence, Rowington
Region: Warwick
Artform: Jewellery & silversmithing
Paula studied Silversmithing at Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa, where she fell in love with the art of jewellery making. She designs unusual unique jewellery to resonate with the wearer’s individuality. Each unique piece is hand-crafted using traditional silversmithing methods so no two pieces are ever identical due to the processes involved in their creation.
Paula draws inspiration from nature, plants, art, music, theatre, and sometimes from her cats, but mostly from the beauty in the materials themselves – working mainly in recycled sterling silver and natural semi-precious gemstones and occasionally copper, brass and enamel. She enjoys the challenge of creative problem solving, considering how each new design idea can be constructed. Each step of the making process requires a set of skills and lots of patience, and the end result is immensely satisfying and rewarding when giving the completed piece of jewellery its final polish.
