Colourful and varied, my work comprises mainly oil paintings, drawings, and collage. I paint a lot of landscape, whether from a plein air sketch, or from a photograph catching some fleeting moment. I am inspired by the light and colours in nature and try to evoke a feeling of “being there” in my work. I am fascinated by perspective and the ever-present abstract shapes of shadows and negative spaces, and have recently explored this more through increasingly abstract images either using paint or collage. I also enjoy life drawing and have developed some images beyond sketches.
During Summer Arts Weeks I’ll be painting in my studio. Do come and join me for a drink and a browse while I am working in my studio.
