I create bold land and seascapes, capturing fleeting memory from both the past and the present. My paintings are made using a variety of media and a combination of tools to create marks.

I often paint places I have visited many times, where I have great familiarity. I work throughout the seasons in the open air to capture a changing scene and reinterpret the same place from memory back in the studio. I am painting a feeling rather than a copy of the land or sea and the painting takes on its own life as the Light is constantly changing and you never know what the weather will do. I always trust my memory, a photograph is a snap of an instant, whereas my observations and paintings are created from a much longer timescale. I soak up where I am and allow my memory to influence my observations and create the final piece.
