I am a figurative painter living in Leamington Spa in the UK. I will be showing my new oil paintings together some of my colour sketches and charcoal drawings.
Although I appreciate many aspects of life, it is only people that I love and that I continue to be fascinated by. Unlike many painters I don’t see things and want to paint them. My imagery arises out of my life experience, either directly or vicariously from the arts and media – and is always metaphorical.
I am a strong believer in the practice of life drawing and I draw from the figure every week. I consider drawing, especially life drawing, essential to maintaining the high level of visual awareness that the expression of all visual art demands. Since art schools stopped teaching life drawing I have set up my own classes in both life drawing and painting. Please contact me if you are interested.
