65 Linda Westerman at Arts in the Cotswolds

Artform: Mixed media, Textiles
A teacher of very traditional embroidery but branching out into other forms of textile art and painting. Most of the work is inspired by Linda’s love of history and archaeology, beginning with the Woollen Mills of the West Riding of Yorkshire and ancient sites and ancient wrecks. Some early boats often found in rivers and waterways were constructed from planks of wood stitched together with willow and fibres. Shards of small pots and vessels excavated, inform patterns for textile pieces and small books.
Patterns used from the earliest times to the present day. A special feeling of continuity.
