7 Vicki Behm at Art in Wharf Street

Artform: Ceramics
I usually make functional pottery on the potter’s wheel, primarily in stoneware and often in a turquoise/teal palette. Lucie Rie has been a great inspiration to me, as to so many others, in particular in my throwing and decoration of bowls. I also enjoy making mugs of various styles and sizes; I love to think of people enjoying a hot drink from them in their own spaces. Jugs, vases and other vessels in a range of different forms and sizes are also fun to make and I have experimented with a range of forms and decoration. I usually make some smaller items such as soap dishes and flower arrangers which people have found useful as little gifts.
It is always a great pleasure talking with people who visit our venue. My fellow exhibitors at Wharf Street are lovely and talented and between us we produce a very broad and disparate range of ceramics. Hope to see you there!
