Colourful and varied, my work comprises mainly oil paintings; from landscape to life, figurative to abstract, large to small. I am inspired by the lights and colours in nature and try to evoke a feeling of “being there” in my work. My landscapes usually start from a plein air sketch or from a photograph catching some fleeting moment. Perspective and the ever-present abstract shapes of shadows and negative spaces fascinate me and I have recently explored these more through increasingly abstract images either using paint or collage or both. I also enjoy life drawing and have developed some images beyond sketches.
During Summer Arts Weeks I’ll be painting in my studio. Do come and join me for a drink and a browse while I am working. Other times are available by arrangement.
