I trained in Textile Design at West Surrey College of Art and Design, specialising in woven textiles. Drawing and painting was an important aspect of the course providing inspiration for colour work and dimensions within the woven cloth.
I continue to weave on an 8 shaft table loom, creating handmade zipped bags with a woven panel.
Putting pen (or brush) to paper in a creative way is what enables me to express my love of the natural world with it’s abundance of shapes and colours. I like to think that I can find beauty in the most unlikely setting, an amazing emerald ivy leaf on a building site, dark purple buddleia poking out of brick walls at train stations…..
There is always something to look at, admire and then record in a sketchbook and using a variety of materials helps to capture this.
