Biography
Originally from Bradford, Yorkshire, I’ve lived in Warwickshire for nearly 30 years, where I work full time in the NHS alongside my passion for painting. Creativity has always been part of me, but like many people, I drifted away from art after my school days as life became busy with work, family and responsibilities.
A few years ago, I found my way back to art and it quickly became an important and rewarding part of my life again. Picking up a brush after such a long break felt both familiar and completely new, and it gave me a sense of freedom to create without pressure or expectation.
My work is inspired by the places I’ve lived, travelled through, and returned to in memory. I mostly paint bold, colourful acrylic cityscapes that are not exact representations of real locations, but imagined scenes built from layers of experience. I love combining details from different places, architecture, atmosphere, and colour to create something that feels personal and a little dreamlike.
Colour and detail sit at the heart of what I do. I’m drawn to vibrant palettes and enjoy adding small elements that reveal themselves the longer you look. My aim is to capture not just how a place looks, but how it feels, and to create paintings that people can step into, explore, and connect with in their own way.
For me, painting is about holding onto moments, places, and emotions, and turning them into something lasting. It’s a creative journey I’m really enjoying being on, and one that continues to evolve with every piece I make.
