As soon as I started to play with glass I was hooked and now I spend my time making fused glass. The draw is really to do with the effect of the light through the glass and the way the colours work together. My preferred themes are to do with nature and my favourite colours are the blues. I draw up my design and then cut the glass using a hand tool so that the design resembles jigsaw pieces. I then grind the shapes to refine them, fit them together and then fuse them in a kiln. Finally, I put the design back into the kiln in a mould to shape it. I make a range of coloured bowls, waves, lanterns and sun catchers, innovating and exploring new techniques to constantly refine my work. In the last year I have started to experiment with powder techniques and also gilding the glass in a style called Verre Eglomise. Recently I have been drawn towards using mould that create more organic shapes for my bowls so that they more closely resemble the flowers that I am constantly inspired by.
