44 Faye Spencer at Floor One Gallery

Artform: Drawing, Illustration, Installation, Mixed media, Multi-disciplinary, Painting
Faye Spencer is an artist, teacher, singer and storyteller living in Rugby.
Her work draws on folk traditions, carnivalesque imagery and ecological anxiety. She makes pictures, props and performances inspired by artists such as Bosch, Brueghel and Goya, as well as popular, ‘low brow’ theatrical traditions: mumming plays, Commedia dell’ Arte and Punch and Judy shows. Over time, these interests have metastasized into an unstable, ever-shifting mythos she refers to as ‘the Nonniverse’.
Previously a lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Central Lancashire, Faye now teaches art courses at the Percival Guildhouse in Rugby.
This summer, Faye is joining the Floor One Artists in Rugby Art Gallery & Museum for an exhibition which runs until 12th July.
Do come for a mooch. You can leaf through her drawings and poke at her puppets. Charity donations welcome.
