69 Sarah Methuen at Art at Alscot

Artform: Mixed media, Painting
Sarah Methuen is a Contemporary Artist and educator with an MA from the Birmingham School of Art. Her first professional engagement as a young artist was with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she held a permanent post as Prop Maker.
Her work explores the interplay between chance and intention, memory and imagination, and balance and turbulence.
During the last seven years of exhibiting her work, Sarah has secured exhibitions and gallery places at home and abroad. The work can be seen from Warwickshire and Worcestershire to Northumberland and, further afield, in Lanzarote.
Sarah’s inspiration comes from the everchanging world landscape, both physical and emotional. She attempts to capture fleeting moments and anchor down internal experiences.
Her process involves working with freehand watercolour monoprint techniques, and the precise application of gold leaf. She responds directly to the unpredictable nature of water and pigment to find new and unique stories every time.
