Sara Huxley creates semi-abstract, large-scale mixed-media paintings that embrace colour and texture and add warmth to interiors. Drawing on influences from convivial meals with friends, fine dining and the generosity of shared food, Huxley conveys the essence of the experience.
Recent work has been inspired by holidays in Cornwall, Seascapes, Boats and beautiful Garden Scenes. Huxley’s work is built through layered paint, collage and hand-made papers. She prints with found objects, scrapes into and peels back surfaces to reveal hidden strata, producing richly textured, evocative compositions. Her designs also appear on tea towels and greeting cards, and she exhibits and sells through galleries and art fairs across the UK and the USA.
