Biography

Hi, I am Sharon Highway, Mallory Journals and I make Luxury Hand Bound Leather and Cork Journals and Sketchbooks. I started making Journals when I needed a gift for my now husband way back in 2011 and had a little bit of leather hanging around, so I had a go. He must have liked it as he now has two Journals, one of which has been refilled several times! When we got married in 2012 I made a Journal each for the Best Men, Ushers, Bridesmaids etc. And a few extra which I sold quickly in my online shop.  I then experimented with lining the Journals with paper and the rest is history.

My Leather Journals are lined with beautiful decorative papers, including; Japanese Chiyogami Paper, Printed Marble Paper, Indian Cotton Screen Printed Papers, Decorative Italian Papers and Maps from Vintage OS Maps and Atlas etc. I use Cords, Ribbons, Beads, and Ceramic and Wooden Buttons and Elastics to close my Journals and enhance my Journals

I am lucky enough to have a cosy Binding Room on the top floor of my house, where I can make as much mess as I like (and I do!) and then shut the door at the end of the day, ready to go back in the following morning. I love Binding, it really is very mindful and therapeutic for me.

Cork Journals are Vegan, Eco-friendly and Sustainable. The covers of these cannot be lined with my papers, but they are so beautifully soft, tactile and the texture is so lovely that they don’t really need it!

I LOVE making Custom Journals. My style of Binding allows for the Journal to be customised very easily. I can expand the spine if it is going to have things such as photographs added to it, ensuring it doesn’t go out of shape. I can add more or less pages. I can use Cartridge, Lined or Dotted Pages. Leather Colour and Lining can also be chosen to suit. And the type of closure. All this means a Journal or Sketchbook made just for you!!!! Please message me to discuss your Journal.

This year I will be experimenting and making my own marbled papers! I am very excited to try this, so you never know I may have some examples ready to show at Tysoe!!!

Last year I launched Workshops so you can have a go at making your very own A6 Leather Journal (or cork by request).  Please contact me for current dates.

When I am not selling my Journals at Events, I sell through my Social Media; Instagram and Facebook and my online shop;
https://folksy.com/shops/malloryjournals

I make Journals for everyone; Note takers, Daily Journalers, for Work, for Projects, Planners, Students, Graduates, Artists, Memory Journals, Bujo, Creative Journaling, Travellers, Wedding Guest Books, Mums, Dads, Aunties etc. Something for everyone!

Happy Journaling!
