Biography

Sarah Methuen is a multi-disciplinary artist and an MA Fine Art Graduate from the Birmingham School of Art. She has been an educator and practitioner in the Art and Theatre creative sectors for over twenty-six years. Her first professional engagement as a young artist was with the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she held a permanent post as Prop Maker.

Sarah is inspired by our relationships with the natural and spiritual world, and where those elements cross over. She explores the ideas of energy, light and the space in which we exist.

Her work centres around the abstract mark making of watercolour mono-print, combined with bold, precise application of metal leaf, creating tension between the perfect and imperfect. Anchoring the un-controlled.

She appears at Warwickshire Open Studios and Art in the Park, Leamington, yearly.

Sarah’s pieces are in homes and collections all around the world, and she has a permanent collecting on display at her home Gallery in Long Itchington, Warwickshire.

She is also a Co-Director of The Stoneleigh Arms Art Space, Leamington Spa.
