Biography

The wilderness, beauty and isolation on the west coast of Scotland had a dramatic impact on me in my 20’s and was the initial impetus for starting to draw/photograph in an attempt to capture what I was feeling and seeing. This experience ‘sparked’ my emotions and has continued to be a major influence in my work.

As my work evolves, shapes and colour are becoming more important almost regardless of the subject. 

My drawings have always taken an abstracted and impressionistic form. Some areas of my photography are beginning to take on a similar form as I experiment with Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), multiple images & longer shutter speeds. In addition to my nature images I also enjoy searching for these shapes in urban and coastal areas, buildings, churches, machinery etc. My growing interest in street photography enables me to create human & urban narratives,

As my work evolves and I venture beyond the documentary and representational image my impressionist and abstract style is developing

I’m a member of The Gallery at the Guild Arts Cooperative, Chipping Camden, where my work is always on view. I steward on a monthly basis. My next stewarding dates are Friday 30th January, Saturday 28th February, Tuesday 10th March & Saturday 14th March, all 10am – 4pm.  It would be great to see you.
