Biography

Julie Swinsco is predominantly a painter, printmaker, and photographer. She was originally from the northeast of England and now lives in Warwickshire. A graduate of Central, Saint Martins, Julie’s work explores movement and energy across diverse media. Her work invites viewers to explore dynamic, and often urban landscapes, capturing their essence through light and motion.

She states.. ‘I am captivated by the play of light, be it dazzling on water or squeezed between the buildings and reflected off glass within an urban environment. Depicting movement is also very important for me, so the image does not feel static, it has an internal energy and provides intrigue and excitement to the viewer.’

Julie is a full-time artist, exhibiting on a regular basis in various galleries within Birmingham, Coventry and Leamington Spa.  She has won several prizes for her artwork, the most recently being in September 2025 at the Broadway Festival Exhibition, where she won a weekend solo show at Broadway Contemporary Gallery for August 2026.
