Biography

Eric Klein Velderman describes his work as mineralism. He transitions from print-based work to sculptural form depending on his artistic focus.

The artist explores materials and their properties employing traditional techniques. Whether mixing rabbit skin glue with clay bole or combining copper leaf with sulphates his practice investigates the chemical consequences of juxtaposing materials. His work uses architectural forms and the natural world as a starting point for development.

The artist employs geometry and repetition throughout his work. Circles are a prominent motif alongside linear flowing forms. In all his work there is a preoccupation with balance, rhythm and stillness which evokes a sense of calm in the viewer.
