Eli Rees-King

Waiting for SpringKing of the Night

Media: Illustration, Painting, Photography

Biography

Eli’s style is distinguished by its ethereal, magical quality. Art that sits between reality and folklore. Nature is at the heart of her creative vision: woodlands, water, the moon, and the stars recur as motifs, not just as settings but as living elements in her visual narratives. This connection to wild landscapes is influenced by both the mystical terrains of the UK and the haunting forests of Scandinavia, creating worlds that feel both familiar and otherworldly.

Her work is also shaped by a lifelong love of Eastern European folklore and classic fairy tales. Childhood memories of stories from the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen inform the symbolic, narrative quality of her imagery — where animals, spirits, and mythic scenes emerge with a sense of ancient wonder.

Whether through richly textured paintings or poetic fine art photography, Eli’s art seeks to capture magic and wildness.
