Biography
As a Mixed Media artist and Gut Health Specialist, I strongly believe in the mind-gut connection. This philosophy inspired me to launch Anna Clarke – Create Nourish Heal, a business that combines my passions for creativity and nourishment , with the goal of empowering others to prioritize their health and well-being through artistic expression and mindful care.
From personal experience, I’ve found that art can be a powerful tool for healing, especially when I painted shared memories of my late father on his clothes, keeping our bond alive. This led to my Rags to Treasure workshops, where I guide others to paint meaningful scenes on garments of loved ones.
With a background in textile design and fashion retail, my recent sustainable practice is focussed around educating students on the environmental benefits of repurposing garments and fabrics from charity shops. I’m passionate about giving new life to discarded materials, creating art with purpose.
My work is deeply inspired by the natural world, particularly the coastal landscapes of St Ives and Salcombe, where I draw inspiration from the ever-changing textures, patterns, and colours of the landscape
My creative process begins with direct experience in nature, which then moves towards abstraction using a variety of media. I obsessively build texture into my artwork using collage, fabric, cold wax, sand, and other natural materials. Additionally, I have a particular love for printing, especially collagraph, which I create at the historic print house at St Ives School of Painting, alongside eco-printing using natural foliage.
