Artform: Textiles
I am a woven textile artist working with natural and man‑made fibres to create three‑dimensional sculptural forms. I hand‑dye my yarns in rich, varied colours to build a painterly depth within the woven surface. My 16‑shaft Harris table loom will be part of my exhibition space, and I will be weaving throughout the event.
I particularly enjoy combining fine copper wire and monofilament with silk and cotton, exploring how different structures behave and interact. Increasingly, I am incorporating light into my work to highlight the inherent qualities of the materials.
Much of my inspiration comes from the world around me. I often sketch plants and flowers to develop ideas for structures and colour palettes. My latest pieces draw on the stained‑glass windows of the church, playing with their vivid colours, shifting transparencies, and the way light transforms them.
