Having spent a 40 year career as a retail designer, Kevin now splits his time between designing department stores and painting.
In his early design career Kevin did a lot of 3D drawing as part of the design process before moving on to producing everything on the computer.
It was about 6 years ago that Kevin felt the urge to get back to freehand drawing and painting, initially taking up watercolours before moving on to acrylics.
Kevin interprets landscapes in and around his home in Warwickshire as well as the larger more open spaces he visits during his travels around the UK.
His style could be described as ‘semi abstract’ but really it’s just about his representation of the way he sees what is in front of him by the use of colour and texture.
The paint is applied thickly and undiluted with a credit card, using brushes towards the end to define certain aspects.
It’s all about capturing an atmosphere of the subject, rather than a photographic representation.
