Iris Eisenhart is one of four artists to show their new work at Jephson Gardens Glasshouse Studio.
Iris: I am a studio potter living in Kenilworth. Throwing has been my passion since I started to throw long ago in California. I also make and apply my own glazes which still convey the misty sense of the ocean shores, the northern Californian landscape, the mountains and the Pacific edge. Nature is all I need to find inspiration.
Each piece is crafted as an organic shape. The glazes I apply aim at capturing the matching natural shade to the particular vessel. Tidal splashes or cloudy transitions of colours on a piece create a sense of fluidity and change in life and allow deeper perspective, yet are high-fired to last. My vessels are made to bring the cycle of natural beauty to a home and make those who use them smile.
My brilliant fellow artists at the Glasshouse are
Fiona Metcalfe– Textiles, Print Making & Mixed Media
Len Mackin – Painting
Marie Calvert - Painting & Photography
