I grew up surrounded by countryside and spent much of my younger life in, on and by the sea. The natural world never ceases to amaze me in all its colours and glory - I take endless inspiration from it for new artistic direction. My paintings are predominantly landscape/ seascape and try to capture the essence of places that have brought me joy.
I have a background and long career in Product Design, which I studied at Glasgow School of Art, but found myself drawn to a more expressive art form as we entered lockdown in 2020. The medium of watercolour is both exciting and fascinating. It has freedom and unpredictability as the paint and water flow and form on the page. The ability to create textures and ‘special effects’, using what is essentially chemistry, appeals immensely to my more academic self.
I look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful garden of ‘Art in Dunchurch’ for a browse and a chat! I hope you enjoy my collection.
