I will be exhibiting alongside Alex Westmore and Emma Caplin. Alex is the Head of the Art Department at King Edward VI School and Emma is her colleague. I am an ex Head of the Art Department. I am excited to be exhibiting with them; the exhibition will prove to be interesting and include a variety of styles and approaches.
Of course, my choice of subjects and images is personal.
As a boy I was captivated by the Wild West or 'Cowboys and Indians' as we called it. TV shows like Wagon Train, The Lone Ranger, Rawhide, all had their part to play in my formative years.
That romantic notion of freedom, the camaraderie, the wide open spaces, the pioneering spirit, it was all such a wonderful escape from the housing estate where I lived.
Later I was awestruck by Yuri Gagarin's space flight and utterly enthralled by the first moon landing.
Mark Rothko, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Jim Dine and early David Hockney.
There's a connection: exploration, into the unknown, an adventure.
