Welcome to the RBL Community Hub & Café. I am delighted to be exhibiting alongside the residents. As a residential carer, I see how important it is for people to be able to continue doing the things they love. I’m a creative person, I would not feel happy if I was unable to make and do.
I love machine embroidery; I use a sewing machine to produce my work. One day I could be stitching a realistic landscape from photographs and memory. Another I might be creating an imaginary person and their story. I also enjoy stitching animals and birds; these creatures can be whimsical or realistic. I have previously created machine-embroidered pet portraits for commissions. Most of my methods and techniques are detailed in my book – "Machine Embroidery Techniques and Projects".
Alongside the embroidered art, I produce bags, cards, jewellery, brooches and dolls. I sell these items at local markets; it’s important for local artisans to have an outlet to sell work and demonstrate their skills.
