Sunday 2nd June 2024 Life Drawing Workshop

Life Drawing Day

Times:10 am - 4.00pm (lunch 12.30 – 1.30pm)
Place: The North Hall, Spencer Yard, off Spencer
Street, Leamington Spa, CV31 3SY

Previous experience of life drawing, though desirable, is not essential as the aim is to improve the drawing skills of each individual from whatever level they begin. We will be doing a variety of drawing activities ranging from very quick poses to quite long ones, involving pure line drawing and full tonal drawing. Those of you who are new to life drawing please take into account that the studio has to be warm enough for a nude model to be comfortable so dress accordingly.

The studio has easels and drawing boards. I provide newsprint for quick poses, plus white cartridge and some half tone paper. Please bring a variety of drawing media, which could include charcoal, compressed charcoal, graphite pencils and sticks, black and white Conte type pencils and/or chalks, ink pens, and hard and soft erasers. I would be very grateful if you could take care with your use of media (especially inks) as I have to clean the floor after the class!

Teas, coffee and biscuits are provided. You are welcome bring your own lunch. There are several cafes and pubs nearby.

Parking

Although you are welcome to drop off your gear there, sadly there is no parking allowed in Spencer yard, but Bath Place ‘pay and display’ car park is very close (CV31 3AQ). If you park at the far end of the car park there is a pedestrian exit to Spencer St. opposite the entrance to Spencer Yard where the North Hall is situated. I think it costs £3 per day - hopefully it shouldn’t be busy on a Sunday.

Access to Spencer Yard

There is pedestrian access through the alleyway to the left of the big, white old church on Spencer St., now known as “The Fold”. Please use the grey wooden door to the right of the North Hall. The studio is upstairs.
