Biography:
Sarah Horne is an artist living and working in Royal Leamington Spa. Sarah is a multi award-winning self taught florist, having competed with her botanical sculptures, amongst other awards she attained 3 Chelsea Flower Show gold medals for professional floristry. This is what led her to explore drawing.
In 2014 Sarah worked on a project to take Leamington Spa to ‘Chelsea’. When asked to produce drawings of her designs for the catalogue Sarah’s answer was "I can’t draw!" The project manager’s reply… "You’re so creative, of course you can!" The results were more of a surprise to Sarah than anyone.
Her medium is an unforgiving one, through which texture is everything… fineliner pens. Her inspiration is of course botanicals. The drawings are very detailed and evocative of the Victorian botanical drawings but with a contemporary twist.
An unexpected diagnosis for breast cancer in 2021 gave Sarah time to learn to paint; she uses watercolours, acrylics and oils.
