As a portrait artist the challenge of trying to capture the essence of a person or animal is what inspires me to create every day. In almost every case my picture starts with the eyes, if there isn’t life in the eyes then the picture will never truly connect with the viewer. I work in pencils; both graphite and coloured, and acrylic paint on canvas, whilst occasionally dipping my toe in the world of watercolour I love working in monochrome, focusing on the light and shade of an image in the hope of creating an impactful picture.
I began drawing in 2017 and now display and sell my art at shops and markets throughout Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. I have successfully exhibited in Banbury and Leamington Spa and have been shortlisted for 3 National competitions.
I am looking forward to taking part in Open Studios alongside three wonderfully talented artists in this beautiful exhibition space in the village of Bishops Itchington.
