Nature is my inspiration, be it in the garden or out and about. I find beauty in the most unlikely looking places such as intricate leaf forms and colours growing in an unloved patch of ground as well as the more traditional landscapes and beautiful architecture. I love being able to record this in a creative way and my sketchbook and pens are constant companions for when inspiration strikes! I use a variety of mediums for mark-making as I find this lends differing structure and form within the piece, so I will often switch from oil pastels to charcoal to chalk depending on the impact I wish to achieve.
Open Studios has given me the opportunity not only to share my work with others but to give myself the chance to look back over the year and be able to reflect on the work I have completed.
