A very warm welcome to our show at Lane End this year - the fourteenth year that I have been part of Open Studios. Thank you to our supporters, many of whom visit each year.
My work continues to be about making stoneware pots for use in the home. My own interest in the preparation and serving of food influences what I make. I love throwing on the wheel and the search for beautiful, balanced forms. I am intrigued by making my own glazes. I am also revisiting my passion for earthenware. It invites a very free way of decorating. Previous visitors to my workshop will have seen a tray of 18th and 19th century slipware sherds which we find in our garden. It somehow seems right to carry on the tradition. I feel honoured that Rebecca Small is joining me again this year. Her woven baskets are objects of great beauty as well as use.
