I explore colour and texture using fabric and stitch. Much of my work features the beautiful Warwickshire landscape which, I am convinced, is in its own quiet way one of the most beautiful areas of Britain. The colours and textures of the local landscape change daily through weather and season and the farmland and fields lend themselves so well to the qualities of fabric and stitch.
Some of my work is more abstract and simply celebrates the qualities of the media themselves. Whatever the subject, each piece is a journey and each an act of love.
By incorporating vintage fabric as well as the simply old and forgotten, I hope my textile art pays tribute to women throughout history who darned, knitted and stitched to keep their families warm and their homes comfortable. I like to think that in my own way I'm continuing a noble and undervalued tradition.
This year for WOS I will be exhibiting with Penny Gildea in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon Old Town.
