I did an HND certificate in Craft Materials at Coventry University many many years ago. I specialised in ceramics and sold all of my final exhibition pieces. But life, work, family took precedence and so it was only in retirement that I was able to return to exploration of clay. I enjoyed working with porcelain paper clay; I liked the translucence that can be created in pieces that look fragile but are actually tough.
In lockdowns when I couldn’t get to the ceramics studio I started keeping sketchbooks, exploring drawing, mixed media work, collage. This has produced interesting links with the clay surfaces I liked to produce and so for Summer Art Weeks 2023 I am planning a retrospective of my work from Coventry University onwards.
Recent serious illness has made producing work difficult so I will sell my existing pieces in aid of Helping Hands Charity and hope that you will give generously to own a piece from a 30 year oeuvre!
My work can be found with the other artists you know at Art in Wharf Street, Warwick, at the lovely Coach House Gallery. Venue 59.
