I did an HND certificate in Craft Materials at Coventry University many many years ago. I specialised in ceramics and sold all of my final exhibition pieces. But life, work, family took precedence and so it is only now in retirement that I am able to return to exploration of clay. I enjoy working with porcelain paper clay; I like the translucence that can be created in pieces that look fragile but are actually tough.
In lockdowns when I couldn’t get to the ceramics studio I started keeping sketchbooks, exploring drawing, mixed media work, collage. This has produced interesting links with the clay surfaces I like to produce and so for Summer Art Weeks 2022 I am hoping to exhibit work in a variety of forms.
I will not be at home in Lansdowne Circus this year but can be found with the other artists you know from there at Art in Wharf Street, Warwick, at the lovely Coach House Gallery. Venue 59. Do come and say hello. I’d love to show you my recent work.
