Growing up in Salford, Mike studied art under Harold Riley, a friend of L.S. Lowry. After briefly pursuing art studies, Mike shifted to psychology, working as a prison and business psychologist and University lecturer. Since ‘retirement’, Mike has rekindled his passion for art through portraiture workshops, demonstrations, and commissions. Mike has recently exhibited with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.

In this workshop we will work from photographs to develop images that not only achieve a likeness but also express your own style and personality.
Materials:
• A3 acid free drawing pad
• Charcoal pencils: light, medium, and dark
• Charcoal sticks
• Dark brown and sanguine pastel pencils
• Putty eraser
• Sharp blade to sharpen pencils

Tea, coffee & biscuits will be supplied
There will be a 15 minute break if you want to bring a packed lunch.
