Art in Dunchurch

Region: Dunchurch

Artform: Mixed media, Textiles

I am a textile and mixed media artist and practise a unique style of Japanese weaving called SAORI, which I create and teach from my Daventry studio. My textile art is textural, richly coloured and sculptural, using a variety of unexpected materials, found objects and techniques. The cloth produced reflects my experiences, inspirations, explorations and observations. I am particularly inspired by the marks, colours and textures of nature: interesting coastlines, the reflections and ripples in water, weathered stone, flaking paint or rust.  My curiosity and urge to explore new ideas, materials and techniques, mean that my work is constantly changing.

This year at Dunchurch, I will be showing an exciting new series of work using ink and paint on paper, collage and mixed media, which is then developed into woven hangings and other works.

As usual, I will be accompanied by one or two weaving looms, so you can observe the artist at work and perhaps have a go yourself!
