I’ve had a career of two halves; I started as a science teacher, moving into IT and pharmaceuticals before having children. I have always made art in my spare time, setting up my workspace in cold attic rooms or draughty sheds. When my children were teenagers I put my pictures into a portfolio and applied to art school. Three years later I graduated with a first class degree in Fine Art and rented a studio. To help pay the bills I advertised for students and my teaching practice, The Art Parlour, was born.
My eclectic background is reflected in my work; having produced large-scale installations at art school I downsized to work with more conventional media – drawing, painting and collage – with a wide range of approaches, from abstract to representative. I find inspiration everywhere: newspapers, books, galleries, gardens, architecture, people in coffee shops, the Cotswold Hills where I live … I could go on.
I am lucky now to have a shed with no draughts. I’d love to welcome you!
