Region: Harbury

Artform: Photography, Textiles

My artistic practice redefines traditional embroidery, pushing its boundaries and challenging perceptions of it as merely craft or “women’s work.” I use the rich textures and intricate details of embroidery to explore themes of identity, memory, and cultural history. In my photography, I focus on themes of growth and decay, capturing moments of subtle beauty and raw emotion. The fusion of textile and photography allows me to question the conventional views of domestic crafts while empowering embroidery as a contemporary form of self-expression. Through my work, I aim to elevate embroidery beyond its historical associations with femininity and domesticity, positioning it as a powerful storytelling tool and dynamic artistic medium. By blending these two techniques, I create art that challenges expectations, highlighting the evolving role of embroidery in the modern art world and expanding its possibilities as both a medium and form of expression.
