I characterise myself as an artist specialising primarily in drawing and painting. My sketch book is a constant companion when I am out and about in case inspiration strikes! I'm drawn to natural organic forms such as trees and flowers, but also landscapes and architecture. A black fine liner pen is usually my choice of drawing implement and I enjoy how an image can be created with minimal and repetitive strokes. I paint using acrylics which allows me to work building layers and creating a colour palette that I am happy with. Often the painting will follow on from previous sketches but with a change of scale and the addition of colour. Much of my work, particularly through the summer months, is completed outside where I can feel fully immersed in the colours and textures of the natural world.
