My former studio was razed to the ground during the first lockdown, and after some considerable time had elapsed (stuck in planning) this new, architect-designed studio appeared. It is an amazing space in which to work, with huge north-facing glass sliding doors. My painting buddy has joined me and we are working hard on commissions and projects, which are keeping us extremely busy. We are both painters in oil, but our styles are very different.
Whilst at home without a studio during the pandemic I worked on a personal project. I produced 4 paintings illustrating my response to the pandemic – a cathartic exercise that raised nearly £1000 for the NHS Charities and was exhibited in the Mall Galleries in London.
Much of my commissioned work is event driven, weddings and celebrations. Paintings with stories. I create memory paintings by weaving together images gathered by myself and the client, and using notes taken from conversations with the client, which always reveal surprising gems.
